Position: Sr. Project Engineer

This person will have responsibility for the RF design of new product development projects. Responsibilities include project planning and high-level system design. This person must be a strong project leader and is expected to provide technical leadership. He or she may also be required to lead the development effort of one or more significant project. Frequent coordination with and travel to the manufacturing plant in Tijuana is required.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Participate in project management activities, including both in-house and external resources
* Participate in all phases of product conceptualization, development, release and support
* Communicate with management to provide information related to project status
* Define product requirements
* Recommend changes, review progress, and approve cost estimates and proposals
* Ensure products meet marketing, manufacturing, and quality objectives
* Ensure project development efforts follow corporate processes and procedures
* Interact regularly with corporate legal council concerning intellectual property and patent issues for new products

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* 7+ years experience in new product development
* Experience showing increasing level of responsibility in design and project management
* Theoretical and demonstrated knowledge of RF active and passive circuits
* Experience with some or all of the following principles
*RF propagation principles
*Antenna theory and design
*VHF/UHF transmitter and receiver (transceiver) designs (100MHz to 900MHz range).
*RF amplifiers (Power amplifiers and LNAs)
*Oscillator design, impedance matching
*Saw filter experience
*RF board layout, shielding and EMC
* Understanding of RF engineering tools, RF circuit and/or antenna simulation experience
* Understanding of receiver and transmitter design requirements and experience in utilizing the current VHF/UHF transmitter and receiver chips on the market
* Experience in design and development of high volume cost-effective wireless communication links between electronic devices
* Experience with product agency certification (FCC, UL, CSA, CE, etc.)
* BS in Electrical Engineering
* Excellent communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Advanced engineering degree or MBA
* Success in working with 3rd party suppliers to develop RF circuitry
* Firmware development experience for 8-bit microprocessors using C and assembly language
* Prior experience using embedded processors such as Atmel AVR, Microchip PIC, 8051, etc.
* Experience in use of advanced development tools: PADS, OrCAD, C compilers, ICE, logic analyzers, etc.
* Prior experience implementing communication protocols in low-cost microcontrollers including creating proprietary protocols
* Knowledge of communications methods and techniques including wireless mesh networks, cell phone, and paging
* Experience with the irrigation industry would be an asset
