Open Letter to May 2007 Graduates

My recent article, Open Letter to May 2007 Graduates, is on the front page of RecruitingTrends.com today.

It's a quick read regarding students and the potential impact of a blog on their future "job search."

I hope it communicates my sentiments regarding the power of a blog. Yes, it can be an influential tool to help impact one's eventual job search. On the flip side, we've all heard the stories of stupidity.

Jason Warner notes in a recent article (Those Photos Don't Matter As Much as You Think), it's not really the end of the world if a student gets a lil' crazy and posts his/her pics for the world to see. I agree with Jason, believing most employers are willing to accept it for what it is (as long as the experiences are felony-free).

But I also wanted to offer up the possibility that a student's blog can be used as platform to highlight one's accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned. And this seems to be the road less traveled among today's student population.

Check it out, HERE.

*Hey Dan - the article contains a reference to my friend in Europe...shouldn't be difficult to figure out who that is (even though they took out the link to your site!).
