The mobile industry is on the brink of signing up its 100 millionth 3G subscriber (according to the UMTS Forum).
According to Wireless Intelligence, the milestone is due to be passed at the start of 2007. If one factors in the "alternative" 3G technologies (CDMA 2000 and 1xEV-DO), the total rises to more than 150 million.
This leads researchers to conclude that the total will reach 275 million by end of 2007.
Like I said, stat's only a geek can luv.
Gimme sum o' dat 3G.
